 But I fear that we have forgotten the severe consequences of the short-lived oil crises of the 70's and the periodic “oil shocks” that our country continues to endure. And I believe that the United States is on the brink of - if not already in - an unprecedented transportation liquid fuels crisis and if we - as legislators - do not aggressively chart a course of action, our country will lose its foothold as the world's superpower.
